INTRODUCTION
Welcome to "It's a Jellicle World! This is a site borne of the creative energies of T.S. Eliot and Andrew Lloyd Webber, dedicated to the Jellicle Cats and the intricate society that they represent. We wish to have a wonderful site in honor of the creations of "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" and "Cats," but in order for this to happen, we need to have some rules. This thread will outline the rules in regards to personal behavior, roleplaying, site rules, and other necessities. Read them closely, for the password to the application section is hidden inside in two parts!
Please, do not look at the following rules as an inhibitor to your enjoyment of "It's a Jellicle World!" These rules simply exist to enhance your roleplaying experience and to deter any unwanted problems that could possible arise. Do not be intimidated, because after all, rules exist not for the righteous but for the sinful! Unless you are willfully nefarious, like our dear Macavity, you should not have any problem following any of the rules!
Sincerely, The Admin Team

BOARD POLICY
This message board is Family Friendly. This means that everything posted on this board must be rated PG-13. Anything one wishes to post which is not must be carried through another venue than the boards. Per Proboards Terms of Service all content on the boards must be PG-13. Likewise, all writers on the board must be 13 years of age or above.
Member's real names and email addresses are never given out. We only require an email address so that we may contact the writer involved in the RP (including registering for the forum). Emails are hidden on the site, unless the writer chooses not to.
While censors are not in place on the forum, vulgar language is greatly frowned upon. In most cases it is caught early, the post modified, and actions taken against the writer (including contacting them about their language usage). We understand that some Sallicles will often slip into unnecessarily rude language, but most Jellicles would never let such words slip from their sensitive tongues! As such, all we ask is that you be careful and sensitive to the other members of the board before typing in any obscenities.
Should a thread become controversial or appear to be heading in that direction, the administration locks, moves, or deletes the thread. We try to keep the forum a safe environment for everyone. If you know ahead of time that your thread will contain material that surpasses a PG-13 rating, we require you to put a label in the subject line of your thread or in a note at the top of your thread opener. Also, in cases such as these, please use the "fade to black" technique. We do not need to hear in detail what has just transpired, and the "fade to black" is all the suggestion we require to understand your post.
We do track IP addresses, but rarely find reason to use this feature. The only reason we would utilize it is if someone needed to be banned from the site.

BOARD REGISTRATION
Registration on this board is very easy. By clicking the Register link at the top of the page, you will be brought to a page where you may select your user name, password, provide your e-mail address, and agree to Proboards' TOS.
The Administration asks that when you register at the board to choose a user name that you will be able to remember. We do not ask that you make it your character name or anything like that. We only ask that you make it something you can remember. After registering at the board, you will need to wait until an activation code is sent to the e-mail address you had provided on the Register page. If you do not receive your activation code, you may need to provide a different e-mail address, or request it to be sent again. AOL accounts seem to experience this problem most frequently. If you have an AOL e-mail address but also have a Yahoo one, for instance, perhaps it would be better to use your Yahoo address.
After you are signed into the board with your account activated, we ask that members change the display name in their board Profile to the name you will be using on the board, a.k.a. your character's name.
This board is a Canon board, but we require you to base your canon off of the works of T.S. Eliot or Andrew Lloyd Webber. For example, if you sign up for Jennyanydots, do not make her a mischievous cat like Rumpleteazer. You may also create your own Jellicle or Sallicle, but please keep your ideas with the realm of possibility provided by the creators of the Jellicles. In addition, we will not accept characters who are based on or are from a different source [such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, or some other fandom]. If the Administration notices your character is based or a canon character of another Fandom, they will ask you to change your character.

ROLE PLAY RULES
1. Role play is to be done in story format.
Story Format means that you are not to use any type of device, such as an asterisk ( * ), two colons ( :: ), a dash ( - ), or anything else to show that your character is doing an action. You are also to write in complete sentences, use paragraphs, proper grammar, and proper spelling. Story Format is most easily described as if you were reading or writing a book. When you role play, keep that in mind.
2. Role play is to be done in third person.
This means that you are not to use any of the pronouns: I, We, Us, Me, and so on, unless your character is speaking or thinking.
3. Role play is to be done in past tense.
This means that you are not to role play in future or present tense. You are to role play as if it had already happened.
4. You are not to God-Mode or the playing other people's characters.
This means that when you make your posts you are not to write the other person's actions for them. You can not decide if another person's character was harmed by a falling object, for example, or not. [PART I -- old] That is the choice of the other writer. You must have the other person's permission if you're going to god-mode their character. If you have permission please make an OOC note of it in your post.
EXAMPLE:
[/u] Good:
Bad:[/u] 5. Characters are not to be all powerful, unnaturally beautiful/handsome, or over all perfect. This is called Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu character.
Your characters must have some sort of weakness. No one is all powerful and has no faults. There is always some way to defeat them. Likewise, no one is perfect physically or mentally. Everyone has some sort of physical or personality flaw. Do not focus only on the positive or negative of your character. Try to balance out the positive and negatives in order to avoid creating a Mary-Sue or Gary-Stu. Are you worried that your character is a Mary-Sue/Gary Stu?? Click here!
6. There is to be no mind reading, unless a special request has been made to the admin team and has been approved.
Mind reading has been allowed before on previous boards. But it was found that people abused this power and many seemed to have it.
7. Do not do one line or two line posts.
It is very annoying to come back to a thread to find that the person you are role playing with has replied and it only a one word to one sentence long. Be detailed in your posts. Do not be afraid to go overboard. Share you character's feelings and thoughts at the moment. Describe what they are doing.Ideas and Wording for this section is Thanks to our friends at TEC[/size][/blockquote]

MULTIPLE CHARACTERS POLICY
There is no limit as to how many characters a person may play here (but only one character per account, unless you talk to the Administration). However, you are only allowed TWO canons, and no one may play more than one of the Elder Cats.
However, do not abuse this freedom. As even though we allow you to have as many characters as you can possibly want, we have guidelines and expectations we expect you to follow with them.
1. Keep all your characters somewhat active. Meaning we want to see you post with them at the very least once every two weeks.
2. Before making another character, you must take into account your own spare time and ability to take on another character. Do not just hop onto the bandwagon, as the phrase may go. It is difficult to juggle multiple characters. As you need to be aware of where you have your characters, when people reply to them, their own personality and history, and also playing them all equally or almost equally.
3. Be aware of the status of your characters. If you are finding you have not been playing a character at all. Either you lost ambition or what ever, you need to take the action and retire them [or get them moving again]. The Administration will not be watching your characters for you. They are your responsibility. Be aware that we have member list clean outs, and accounts that haven't been signed on or posted in over two months are deleted [there are exceptions to this rule]. Do not complain to us if we delete one of your characters.
4. It is possible to have a character that is background related. What do we mean by background related? Meaning they are not the focus of your attention, that you only play them occasionally. Characters who are: Ghosts, Shopkeepers, Plot Characters, and etc. are not and cannot always be played all the time. Meaning, a person doesn't need to pay special attention to these characters. They are an exception to the 2 Month activity rule, if the Administration knows about them. It is also possible to move a Professor character into a background position, meaning they are only played when Lessons are going on it. This is acceptable, but if you're going to do this you need to talk to the Administration and explain why you can't keep that Professor or Staff member very active. Such an excuse is if you have busy life outside of the board and you want to keep the character but don't have the time right now to play them to their full potential.
We only ask in your characters that you keep them active and be aware of the fact if you handle them all or not. It is your responsibility to play these characters, not ours.
